It seems that most of the library acoounts are listing programs that we are offering. I couldn't get into some of the account because a message came up stating that the page doesn't exist. I think Twitter would only be effective if customers knew that we posted on there-so wouldn't that involve some sort of advertising of this fact and then how to access each of the different accounts for the library.
I did like the fact that Twitter states in "About Us" that they support literacy.

LibraryThing -2.0
I have been using LibraryThing for a couple of years. I originally signed up to keep track of books I was going to be booktalking for an event at the library. I kept up with it because I love to put in my favorite authors and get back recommended reads for other authors. It is also a wonderful way to keep track of what you have read you may want to reread a book in the future and even keep track of what you didn't like to read.

Yahoo Calendar-2.0
I used Yahoo calendar because my e-mail account at home is with them. I thought it was very easy to use and can see myself using it for my at home appointments. I already use Outlook at work. I also think Google documents is good, I think the library might be going to use this for technology courses soon rather than Microsoft.

Flikr & YouTube-2.0
I like YouTube a lot, except you go on just to look at a couple of things and suddenly it is 2 hours later-just keep finding more and more neat videos to watch. Some of the videos aren't the best quality and others I don't know why they are even posted but all in all I thought many of the videos I watched were good.
I didn't like Flickr as much-I searched for photos on various subjects and kept getting other very strange photos in the mixture which I thought had nothing to do with what I asked for.
I don't think I would ever use Flickr to manage my pictures and I would never post to YouTube either. I don't think the whole world needs to see what everybody else is doing.

RSS-2.0
I found it fairly easy to set up my account in Bloglines.com and do some RSS feeds. Next day I went back to look them over. Some of them were really good but others had information in them older than 2006. I don't think this is something I would use very often-the websites I like to go to on my home computer are already favorited or in my drop down menu. Also my home page is "Yahoo" and it does something similar in that you can pick your favorites websites and have them on the homepage. It is a good tool to know about though, I had never heard of it before so if someone mentions RSS feeds now-I will be in the know.

Google Earth 2.0
I downloaded Google Earth on my home computer and looked at many different places-my city, my workplace, my house. It took me a while to get the skills to zoom in and out and go up and down-but what a neat site. The building where my workplace is actually had a tag attached so when I clicked on it I could get to their website. I also liked the camera view you can get throughout the area. My daughter and family are moving to Korea this month so I looked at the city of Ulsan and when I get their street address it will be neat to go to Google Earth and look at where they are living and the surrounding area. I quess this would be my concern though as anybody can check out neighborhoods (ways in and out). Overall though I was very impressed with this offering from Google

Facebook-2.0
I have had an account with Facebook since my son went to Switzerland. I think it is a good way of knowing what is going on with friends and family. I think networking sites are so popular because you can get almost instantaneous results. Pictures and videos taken and uploaded that day are available for others to see almost as soon as something happened. You can find out and limit to those people you want to be friends with or who want to be friends with you. A drawback is some people put to much information in their account and spend to much time playing silly games.

Wikipedia - 2.0
I looked up a few things in Wikipedia that I hadn't looked at before in that site. I was in Switzerland a couple of years ago and I looked up the city of Bern. I couldn't see any mistakes in spelling or anything else, but I didn't go through checking facts at all. One of the things I saw in Bern was the enclosure for the bear. It was just a pit in the ground as you can tell from the picture. There is not a separate entry for the Bern bear but it is mentioned in the Bern site and also in the site called Bear Pits. I am happy to report that they do have a nice new enclosure for the bears. I also checked for Calgary Public Library and read that information as well. There is not a separate entry for Country Hills Library though it is mentioned under the Calgary Public Library site as a branch.

Delicious- 2.0
Delicious-I have used Delicious to find websites that we used to have on our Best Website page. I have gone to sites such as Altapedia and the CIA Factbook for country information and I have also used some of the sites for Citizenship information. I actually had even added a site when we first switched to Delicious-the Hennepin Public Libray site. I looked up the Hennepin Library today on the main site and stopped counting after 25 for the entries for it. I think this is one of the main problems with Delicious-there doesn't seem to be anybody moderating it and so websites are being listed over and over again-which could make looking for something very cumbersome.

2.0 is Chill
I have already used some of the resources that we will be trying during the next few months for CPL 2.0. I kept in contact with my son when he was in Switzerland using Facebook and I signed up for YouTube because he posted some videos on there. I have also used LibraryThing to keep track of books. I hope to learn some more in-depth information about each of these products and learn some of the new ones that I have never tried before such as Twitter, I guess it would be good to relate programs and information about the library to our customers.
